Newcastle University spin-out secures patent for new cutting method
Newcastle-based Microbritt, a spin-out from Newcastle University, has achieved a significant milestone by securing a patent for its micromilling cutting method. This innovation enables the precise fabrication of custom products using materials such as silicon, glass, ceramics, and polymers.
The patent, granted in Europe and validated as a Unitary Patent (covering most EU countries) and a UK national patent, represents a major success for the company. Dr Carl Dale, CEO and co-founder, celebrated the patent as a testament to the team’s dedication to cutting-edge technology and product quality. The news follows Microbritt's recent participation in South Korea’s Smart Tech event and a £400,000 funding boost.
