North East News

iPac Packaging Innovations, a sustainable packaging manufacturer, has launched a new production site in Tanfield, County Durham, marking a significant milestone for the company. The new BRCGS AA+ certified food packaging facility adds capacity with four fully operational production lines and space for 2,800 pallets, allowing iPac to better serve existing clients and explore new market opportunities. This expansion builds on the company's foundation in Gateshead, where it has specialised in producing sustainable packaging from recycled rPET and rPP materials.

The expansion was made possible through financial support, including a £600,000 investment from the Finance Durham Fund, £400,000 from the North East Development Capital Fund, and an additional £250,000 from the County Durham Growth Fund. With a turnover of £21 million, iPac's managing director, Jonny Catto, highlighted that the new site significantly boosts the company's production capacity and positions it for future growth in the sustainable packaging sector. The expansion is seen as a crucial step in iPac's ongoing growth strategy.
