Schneider Electric reveals plans for £42m Scarborough facility
Schneider Electric, a French industrial company, is constructing a new £42 million manufacturing facility in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, scheduled to open in early 2025. This expansion builds on its existing operations in Scarborough, where 450 people are currently employed, and the new 16,500 m² site will create an additional 200 jobs. The existing facility focuses on producing low-voltage switchgear for electricity distribution. Schneider Electric states that the new plant will help address the growing demand for electrical equipment in the UK as it moves toward achieving net-zero emissions.
“We’re proud to be investing in and developing innovative solutions which will deliver immediate and lasting decarbonisation in the UK, while bolstering the creation of local, green jobs in Yorkshire,” said Kelly Becker, president at Schneider Electric, UK & Ireland, Belgium & Netherlands.
